Maintenance Mechanic
Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic will safely provide service and maintenance on equipment and machines, as well as assist in the construction of new equipment and machines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Operate Manual and CNC Machining Equipment Proficiently
- Follow all Company safety policies and safety procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment
- Follow all Company policies, rules and regulations
- Act as a professional representative of Wausau Coated Products, Inc. at all times
- Install, dismantle or move heavy equipment and machinery
- Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machines
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Consult with manager on projects and needs for production equipment
- Recognize hazards and understand zero energy state; Lockout Tagout Policy
- Operate a hoist, winch or hydraulic boom
- Operate metal forming and fabrication equipment
- Perform detailed welding techniques using a various welding equipment
- Use pipe fitting equipment
- Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts
- Repair and lubricate equipment and machines
- Perform hydraulic plumbing
- Position, align or level equipment, machines or structures
- Test mechanical products or equipment to ensure they are running properly, including light electrical troubleshooting

Education and/or Experience

- High School Diploma required
- Two (2) years vocational school with machining, maintenance or equipment servicing preferred
- Millwright certificate desired
- Minimum five (5) years equipment maintenance support and / or custom fabrication experience preferred
Specific Skills, Licensure and Certifications

- Ability to communicate with co-workers and utilize every means necessary to keep equipment and machines operating in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to follow directions and read layout plans, schematics, blueprints and other drawings
- Ability to keep records/use computer
- Ability to work 8-9 hour shift, including weekends when needed
- Willingness to work reasonable weekly or daily overtime as required or needed
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability

The employee is occasionally required to sit; use foot/feet to operate machines/equipment; and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee may occasionally perform work related travel.
The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud dependent upon the machinery you are exposed to. In such cases wearing of PPE is mandatory.
Willingness to travel to other WCP facilities such as Las Vegas and future expansions potentially a few times per year for up to a week at a time.
